I am a retired military member going back to school in order to set myself up for a new career outside the military. Although I had already taken a lot of classes towards my degree while in the military, I had done so over several years whenever I could fit it into my schedule. My major is Accounting, and I had previously taken Introductory Accounting years ago, but the school took my credits and allowed me to enroll in the Intermediate Accounting course. To say I was lost is an understatement. I barely passed Intermediate Accounting 1 and I was very nervous about being able to pass Intermediate Accounting 2. That was when I decided to request a tutor. I wanted to not only pass the class, but to actually understand the material. When I was afforded the opportunity to return to college as an adult, I knew that Math would be my greatest challenge! The state where I graduated high school from only required passing ninth grade math and I knew that, to be an educator, I would have to pass Algebra and several other math concepts.
I have used MySuperTutor on several occasions. My tutor was patient and accommodating with the hours that I was able to meet with him. He came to my house and we worked several hours each week on Math. Starting with Pre-Algebra and all the way through College Algebra, he broke down concepts, resulting in a better understanding.

When I was struggling in my Pre-Calculus course, I realized that I needed a tutor with whom I could be comfortable, but also one who could explain things in a structured way that I could understand. In addition, I had a very busy and hectic schedule. As a result, I needed someone who could be flexible with meeting times. I knew that all these requirements would be essential to my success. Believe it or not, not every “certified tutor” can explain things in a way that students with a very weak understanding can understand, regardless of their qualifications. My tutor, on the other hand, swooped all the way down to my level and helped construct a strong base so that I could build on top of that while becoming more confident along the way. There wasn’t any wasted time in the meetings because of how well he could explain it the first time and how careful he was to avoid errors in computations. I ended up making an A and I was at the point where I could teach my peers the concepts I learned from my sessions. I can say with certainty that I gained full understanding of every topic covered in my sessions with my tutor and I have continued to be successful in my undergraduate career largely because of him.

From a very young age, I have always struggled with math. No teachers or past after school care tutors could help me. In the year of 2004 I was struggling to pass the mathematics part of the TAAS test to graduate high school. My math teacher just couldn’t help me grasp the concept of algebraic mathematical problems. My mother saw that nothing was changing. She took action and started to look for math tutors. She finally came across Mr. Robert’s ad in the phone book. The first time he came to the house we knew that there would be hope for me after all. He has a very unique teaching technique that helps you understand in that first tutoring session. My mother saw that this was good and kept him as my tutor. By the time the TAAS test rolled around, I was ready and felt confident in what I was doing. I aced that test with an 80%!
